Try the Latest NYC Ice Cream Trends Before It's Too Late

Updated: Dec 21, 2019

Just because summer is sadly coming to an end doesn't mean you have to stop indulging in your favorite sweet treats. Whether it's charcoal coconut-flavored ice cream or creative gelato popsicles, New York City has seen some new ice cream trends this summer, making the humidity and heat a little more bearable. Here are my favorite picks for the best ice cream throughout the city.

Thai- Style Rolled Ice Cream Ice cream rolls are a popular dessert on the streets of Thailand, and now they're a craze in New York City. Frozen Sweet in Little Italy offers this delicious hand-rolled ice cream with endless toppings such as roasted marshmallows, cute panda cookies, Oreos, coconut flakes, gummy bears and more.

Popsicles Classic popsicles made a comeback this summer and shops all over New York put their own unique spins on this summer treat. Popbar in West Village introduced drool-worthy handcrafted gelato on a stick. Made with all natural ingredients, New Yorkers can customize their own pop or choose one of their unique combinations such as Pistachio popGelato topped with chopped pistachio and dipped in dark chocolate.

Black Charcoal Ice Cream At Morgenstern's Finest Ice Cream in downtown Manhattan, black charcoal-colored ice cream is the new summer snack that's trending throughout news feeds all over. This shop has been featured in the NY Times, Zagat and Eater, but its recent premier of a new Coconut Ash Ice Cream flavor, that happens to be black, has been getting all the buzz.

Extravagant Milkshakes Giant milkshakes have been drawing huge lines of dessert lovers everywhere; especially at Blacktap, where you will find creative gourmet burgers and out-of-this-world milkshakes. With two locations in SoHo and Meatpacking, Blacktap quickly became the new food fad and Instagram sensation in New York.

Where will you beat the NYC heat before the summer officially ends?
