Looking to spend your holidays in the Caribbean and want to learn more about the food scene? Well, for starters you'll find that San Juan's cuisine is extremely diverse, with influences from Africa, East India, Europe, and China all mixed into one dish. This melting pot of flavor makes the recipes representative of cultures from around the globe. Every spot we visited had unique flavors and tasty ingredients, but here are my top three favorite restaurants in San Juan:
Budatai
Summary: This local hotspot is a trendy Latin-Asian fusion restaurant with gorgeous inside decor, intimate and dim lighting, open windows overlooking the city, and a cool bar area.
Pork Dumplings with shaved Truffles and Caviar: My favorite dish of the night!
Glazed Lamb Ribs: These gems were mouthwatering and melted right off the bone.
Oceano
Summary: This restaurant flaunted tree floors, an open air terrace, a modern contemporary atmosphere, excellent service, and exquisite food.
Fresh chicken breast with an apricot glaze, quinoa salad with dried apricots, crispy bacon, caramelized onions and a sweet sherry vinaigrette accompanied with oven roasted pumpkin
Pikayo
Summary: This eatery offers luxury 5-star fine dining and provided me with the best service that I have ever experienced. Wilo Benet, chef and owner of Pikayo, has appeared on T.V shows such as Bizarre Foods with Andrew Zimmerman, Top Chef and Martha Stewart Weddings.
