What kind of Sunday would it be without scrolling through your Instagram feed & seeing every other girl insta that basic "food in the air" (ramen burger, most likely) NYC skyline background pic? An unusual one.
The hype is real- Smorgasburg, the Brooklyn flea food market, every Saturday & Sunday, is more popular than ever. I have to admit, the first time I went I felt like a child in a candy shop. There are 100 food vendors so navigating through it all can be tough & overwhelming (well, for people like me who get way to excited over food). I have been there a couple times and basically had a bite of everything there...
Here are my top 6 food vendor picks & what to get at each to ease your anxiety of having to choose:
1. Takumi Taco
Their menu has a lot of variety representing the most current trends in Japanese cuisine. My faves are the spicy shrimp taco & spicy tuna tacos.
2. Bamboo Bites
I recently wrote about them (scroll down one blog post) & they def make it to the top of my list for their peanut chicken satay sticky rice. The lemongrass ginger almond "Nom Nuts" are a really yummy healthy snack also.
3. Schnitz NYC
Who doesn't love chicken schnitzel on a soft pretzel hero? The Sweet Onion Sandwich (topped with pickled cabbage, jicama, radish & cilantro with a roasted beet tzatziki) is to die for! I am looking forward to trying more of their heavenly sandwiches.
4. Lumpia Shack
These are Filipino inspired spring rolls- the truffle mushroom & the duck spring rolls are delicious and the perfect size to leave room for all the other food you will be trying.
5. Noodle Lane
These cold peanut egg noodles with cucumber, scallions & chili oil were so fresh and tasty. Noodle Lane's mission is to bring Sichuan cuisine mainstream, starting with the Dan Dan Noodles that they serve in Smorgasburg.
6. Brooklyn Wok Shop
The pastrami dumplings with sauer kraut are like a bite size pastrami deli sandwich. The restaurant in Brooklyn serves everything from dim sum, home-made noodle soups to caramel apple spring rolls. Def try it out!
There's a reason you're in New York: to keep up with all the newest & hippest trends. For food, it's all at Smorgasburg.
